Terms of Service

We are a small business looking to make tarantula buying the best for you and your new pets! We know that giving someone new a try can be scary, but we will do everything we can to make this the very best experience for you. All our animals are captive bred and healthy when they leave for their adventure. Feel free to email if you have any questions or concerns regarding an order or animal.

Terms of Service

There is a minimum order of $50.00 for purchasing living things to be shipped. The $50 minimum includes the cost of living things only, not the cost of shipping. Changes to or cancellation of your order must be made before a confirmation of shipping is sent to you. We will not refund shipping if a cancellation is made after shipment. By agreeing to these terms at checkout, you are indicating that you are 18 years of age or older.  If you are under 18, an adult will need to purchase the animals for you. I know my mom would be upset if I purchased a bunch of tarantulas without telling her, so please don’t buy without talking it out with your parents. We will be shipping Monday to Thursday. This is to help avoid any weekend delays, and primarily for the safety of the animals. Exceptions can be negotiated, but if you specifically request to have your animals shipped on Friday and the animals do not arrive by Saturday we will not honor our live arrival guarantee.

Shipping policy

We ship using Federal Express.  We only ship overnight via FedEx for the safety of the animals. $55 ships an unlimited number of spiderlings to all states except Hawaii. We do not ship to Hawaii.

***Shipments will be sent the next business day. An order placed on Monday should arrive to you on Wednesday.***

Shipping charges are not refundable once your order has been shipped.

We ship on Mondays and Tuesdays. We will never ever ship a package without first receiving confirmation that the delivery day is a good one for you, so there is no need to worry about receiving your order before you are ready. A tracking number will be provided via email from FedEx no later than the day of shipment. There will be times when shipping must be delayed due to weather, our expo schedule, or if a tarantula you ordered has recently molted or appears to be about to molt. You will be notified via email if that is the case. You must be available to receive delivery of your package even if there is a delay up to 2 days. If you cannot receive your package, we will not issue a refund because these are live animals that we cannot have shipped back to us without great risk to them.  A signature is always required at delivery. For home deliveries, you must be available to sign for your order on the first delivery attempt or your guarantee of live arrival will be void. When picking up your order at a FedEx center, it is very important to have a valid ID. If you do not have a valid ID, someone will need to accommodate you to pick it up and we will have to add their name to the shipping label. If we have to do that after the package has arrived, FedEx charges us $15 which would be passed onto you, so be sure to let us know before we ship your order. Unable To Be Delivered or Unclaimed.  If your order is not picked up at the FedEx location within 24 hours of delivery, and you have not let us know you cannot pick it up, we reserve the right to have it shipped back to us.  If you do not claim your package within 24 hours and it is shipped back to us, we will not refund your order.  If there is a reason you cannot pick your package up, let us know.  We will not allow an order to sit at a FedEx facility unclaimed for the safety of the animals.

Live Arrival Guarantee

We guarantee that your tarantula will arrive alive. If you do receive an animal that is deceased we will provide a refund to you if the animal is not available or offer to ship it out to you on the next order that you make with us. Carrier delays will typically not void the live arrival guarantee. This is out of our control as well as yours, you should not be held responsible for a FedEx delay of your animals.

We will need an email within 2 hours of receipt notifying us of the death. We will let you know what evidence will be acceptable at the time of notification. Typically, this will be photos or a video depending on what works best for you. Federal Express DOES NOT reimburse Eight Legged Adventures for lost packages or the loss of tarantulas.  We do our best to ensure the animals in transit have the best chance of surviving. If you are not at your home to sign for the animals even if they are delayed, your live arrival guarantee will be void. If you purchased a sexed tarantula: We guarantee the sex of the animal. Anything that is sexed is an adult or nearing adulthood. We don’t sell any “questionable female animals” as sexed. We won’t attempt to sex anything under 3 inches, because we don’t have reliable equipment to examine a molt at that size. Our Live Arrival Guarantee will be void if you are not home to receive the package on the FIRST delivery attempt.  This is the case even if the carrier is later or earlier than the time given to you. You should be available to receive your package and consider that the time given to us by FedEx is an estimate and may be a bit earlier or later due to possible traffic, weather, or incidents in your area.  If we shipped to a FedEx center, you must pick your order up within 2 hours of its arrival to the center. We must be notified within 2 hours of delivery  if a tarantula arrived DOA.  If we are not notified within 2 hours of delivery, the live animal guarantee is void.

To summarize, the live arrival guarantee guidelines are:

  1. Be available to sign for your package the entire day of delivery for home or business arrival.  Delivery must be made on the first attempt.

  2. Pick up your order within 2 hours of the package being available at a FedEx center for deliveries to a FedEx center. *Maybe 1 hour if temperatures are fluctuating but you will be notified if that is the case.

  3. Notify us about any concerns within 2 hours of receiving your package. Provide pictures via email at eightleggedadventuresbusiness@gmail.com

Regarding the receipt of DOA tarantulas:   We take excellent care of our animals and it is always a terrible loss when one doesn’t make it. There are a few things you should try before assuming your tarantula friend is DOA.

  • Place your tarantula into a well moistened enclosure with a water dish. Put its mouth into the water dish and leave it for a few hours.

  • Take care that it is not molting. An animal that is on its back in a death curl could very well be molting.

If it is clear the animal is DOA (i.e. exploded abdomen) send us a photo of it on top of a coin upside down and right side up. You can also send a video doing the same thing. The video or photo must be clear.

Post-shipment Care

Shipping can be stressful for tarantulas and the right care given to them after unpacking is crucial to how well they do. Please read the following tips to help ensure the best possible conditions are present for the health of your new tarantula.

  • Habitats should be ready prior to the arrival of the animals.

  • Mist generously the walls and substrate. Animals can get dehydrated in shipping and it will be best for the animals health to be introduced into a moist environment.

  • Unpack them as soon after your package arrives as possible. If you cannot unpack them right away, be sure to remove the heat or cold pack from the box if one was provided.

  • Be cautious when removing slings from their traveling case. They can be very easily crushed by the paper towels. I would recommend opening their traveling case and verifying the location of the animal prior to trying to remove it. DO NOT PULL THE END OF THE PAPER TOWEL! Unroll it slowly so as not to crush the animal.

  • You can try feeding the same day, but we feed all our animals on Saturday. If it does not take the food item, be sure to remove it to avoid the animal being eaten by it’s prey item.
